Event Highlights and Objectives

The Hospitality & Tourism Race aimed to foster collaboration among students from different programs, enriching their understanding of key hospitality and tourism concepts. Throughout the event, students participated in fun, educational challenges that enhanced their appreciation of Singapore’s dynamic hotel industry and various attractions across the city.

This event allowed students to:

  • Collaborate across cohorts, fostering teamwork and leadership.
  • Experience firsthand the intricacies of the hospitality industry, from hotel operations to guest services.
  • Explore sustainable tourism practices and understand their growing importance in the industry.

  • ADHTM Year 2 – Sustainable Tourism Planning & Development: Year 2 students examined the principles of sustainable tourism, particularly in developing countries and global tourism trends.
  • BDIHM – Geopolitics: Students contrasted international events and analyzed geopolitical risks affecting the industry.
  • MBA – Marketing Management: Students applied marketing strategies, such as product segmentation and pricing, in practical scenarios throughout the race.

Activities and Tasks

Students engaged in various tasks posted on Padlet, which required them to investigate and share findings on key industry practices, such as sustainability initiatives implemented by hotels. They also documented their experiences on social media, using our SISH hashtags to raise awareness of the learning journey.

The aviation students focused on exploring Singapore’s renowned attractions, adding another layer of real-world understanding of tourism dynamics. Whether exploring hotel operations, sharing photos of eco-friendly practices, or reflecting on their race experiences, every student walked away with a deeper connection to the industry.

A Memorable Experience

The Hospitality & Tourism Race was more than just an event—it was a platform for students to connect their academic learning with real-world applications. Through engaging tasks, hands-on learning, and meaningful collaboration, our students gained invaluable insights that will serve them in their future careers.
