Progression Pathway

  • SISH Institute has an articulation agreement with Vatel Hotel & Tourism Business School. Students who completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management are able to enroll into the Masters Programme.

The main goal of this module is to provide the students the opportunity to be familiar with all the components of the marketing mix. These learners will be exposed discussions that could develop skills to craft marketing strategies and prepare them to complete marketing plans for companies in different sectors, environments and situations, in accordance with their global policies and strategies.

The module aims to give students the opportunity to gain an understanding of operational management skills and apply theoretical concepts in the hospitality environment.  It includes the delivery and assessment of operational management practices such as quality management, risk assessment, legislative controls, financial control, training and motivation.  Students will plan, execute and reflect on an event undertaken within the hospitality industry.

The module aims to equip students with the abilities and skills to adapt and manage an increasingly diverse human resource, and in a competitive business environment. The areas include diversity management; job analysis and job design; human resource planning; and recruiting, screening and selection of candidates; interviewing candidates; orientation, training and development; compensation, incentives and benefits; evaluating and appraising employee performance; and organizational culture and cross-cultural issues.

The coverage of this module includes key business concepts in international tourism management including tourism demand and forecasting, research and innovation, corporate strategy, environmental issues, marketing, finance and operations and human capital management.

This module provides an overview of man-made and natural site attractions, conservation, access routes, heritage sites, urban sites, etc. The module’s syllabus will cover a wide range of topics including human resources, marketing, finance, business systems, developing customer service, health and safety, security and event management in the site attraction and recreation industries.

Entrepreneurship is a module designed for learners to think creatively, critically, and innovatively. In this module, the learner is exposed to knowledge acquisition on starting-up businesses, operating them, growing enterprises, and how to make them profitable. The concepts here are general overviews of what one could expect from a master’s curricula and therefore serve as essential fundamentals for that particular goal.

Financial Management is a module that provides the opportunity to understand the firm and the business in light of corporate finance. It is goes beyond just the knowledge of financial information as it exposes the learner to the processes in evaluating a company’s financial performance. It concerns itself with the knowledge about financial forecasting, planning, operational budgeting, money valuation, and risk analysis. The learner also will have the chance to investigate global finance specifically in the areas of foreign exchange, merger and acquisition as well as management control systems.

MIS is a module that specializes in the understanding of basic management information system (MIS) concepts. It spans the realms of relevance of databases at the workplace, website design, Internet tools and technologies for hospitality related operations, web technologies, along with systems in various case examples. It provides the change for the learner to use simple desktop productivity tools for day to day operations.

In the overall, this module exposes the learner to operations management production and manufacturing concepts as well as total quality management (TQM) philosophy and frameworks. It covers the evaluation of new developments and techniques to solve production and operations issues. The learner will have the chance to explore the key components and facets of the quality improvement cycle in the services in operations and production settings.

Strategic Management is the study of a set of managerial decisions and actions that determines the long-run performance of a corporation. It includes environmental scanning (both external and internal), strategy formulation (strategic or long-range planning), strategy implementation, and evaluation and control.The study of strategic management, therefore, emphasizes the monitoring and evaluating of external opportunities and threats in light of a corporation’s strengths and weaknesses. Originally called business policy, strategic management incorporates such topics as strategic planning, environmental scanning, and industry analysis.
