Begin Your Journey: Application Process Overview

Step-by-Step Guide

Joining SISH International High School (SIHS) is simple. Follow our clear five-step process to apply, submit documents, and start your global education journey with confidence and ease.

Step 1: Pre-Application Counselling
All prospective students (and their parents or guardians) are required to attend a pre-application counselling session by SISH or SISH representatives in your country. This ensures you fully understand the course details, admission criteria, and study pathway opportunities so you can make a well-informed decision about your studies.

Step 2: Complete Your Application Form
Fill out the appropriate application form and send the completed SIHS Course Application Form, with all supporting documents and pay a one-time non-refundable and non-transferable Application Fee of S$1,500 to initiate the application process. This fee includes the cost of the Placement Test, which all applicants are required to take.

You will be required to provide the following supporting documents:

  • Recent passport-sized photo of the child (white background)
  • Copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Copy of the child’s passport (personal details and expiry page)
  • Copy of each parent’s passport
  • Front and back copies of the child’s DP / PR / Student Pass (if applicable)
  • Front and back copies of both parents’ DP / EP / LTVP / PR / Student Pass (if applicable)
  • Most recent official school transcripts or report cards (current and previous year)
  • Curriculum overview if the child is homeschooled
  • Proof of English Proficiency or IELTS or TOEFL, if applicable
  • Immunization Status
  • Any speech/language, educational psych testing, or learning needs evaluations/records (Required if applicable)

Documents not in English must include official translations.

Step 3: Application Review & Offer
Once your application has been successfully reviewed and accepted by SIHS, you will receive the following:

  • Letter of Offer – Includes details about your course intake and applicable fees.
  • Course Information – Overview of your selected programme and academic schedule.
  • Student Pass Application Checklist – For international students requiring a Student’s Pass.
  • Accommodation Information – Details on housing options available to international students.

To secure your place following receipt of the Letter of Offer, please return the signed copy to the School Office by the deadline specified in the letter. If the signed Letter of Offer is not received by the stated due date, the offer will be deemed lapsed, and you will need to submit a new application to be considered for admission.

SIHS will initiate the Student’s Pass application with the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on behalf of international students only after we have received both the signed Letter of Offer and the non-refundable, non-transferable Application Fee. Once the application is approved, the ICA will issue an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. Please note that the entire Student’s Pass processing timeline typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks.

Step 4: Finalise Your Enrolment
Once your application has been approved, it’s time to officially confirm your place at SIHS.

To complete your enrolment, you — along with your parent or guardian (if you are under 18 years of age) — must review and sign the SIHS Student Contract and settle the payment of the school fee along with any applicable miscellaneous fees.

Step 5: Get Ready for First Day of School
Now that you’re officially enrolled, it’s time to prepare for your first day! Make sure to complete the following:

  • Report to school to complete your onboarding procedures
  • Purchase your school uniform
  • Buy required textbooks and workbooks (refer to the official booklist provided)
  • Attend the orientation session for new students (this will help you get familiar with the campus, meet teachers and staff, and connect with fellow students)

This structured experience is designed to help you settle in confidently and start your academic journey on the right foot.

Students accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to report to the school at least two weeks prior to the commencement of classes to complete onboarding procedures and secure their Student’s Pass in time for the start of the academic term. Please note that the approval of the Student’s Pass is subject to the final discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

FAQs

International students under the age of 18 who are studying in Singapore and not residing with a parent are required to have a guardian for the duration of their enrolment in an international school. The guardian must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident aged 21 years or older; or
  • Be a parent or adult family member of the student who is currently working or residing in Singapore.

The guardian is appointed and approved by the student’s parents and must fulfil several key responsibilities, including:

  1. Managing school-related matters such as attending parent-teacher meetings and handling ad-hoc administrative issues.
  2. Serving as the primary point of contact for the school in case of emergencies or any incidents involving the student.
  3. Ensuring the welfare and accountability of the student while in Singapore.
  4. Acting on behalf of the parents in matters concerning the student’s education and well-being.

The guardian must always remain contactable by the school, and any changes in guardianship must be promptly reported to the school.

SIHS does not provide guardianship services directly. However, the school can assist families by recommending trusted and experienced third-party guardianship service providers, depending on availability and suitability. Any guardianship arrangement must meet all regulatory requirements and receive prior approval from the school before the student’s enrolment or arrival.

These external guardianship providers typically offer a range of supportive services, including:

  • Helping new students settle in by familiarizing them with the school, campus, and surrounding neighbourhood.
  • Arranging airport pick-up and drop-off services.
  • Providing ongoing care and attention to the student’s well-being.
  • Ensuring the safety and protection of the student at all times.
  • Maintaining regular communication with parents and providing updates on the student’s academic and personal progress.
  • Providing a clean, comfortable, and conducive living environment.
  • Supporting school-related administrative tasks, such as attending parent-teacher meetings.
  • Supporting the student’s holistic development by facilitating extracurricular activities or enrichment programs to nurture interests and talents.

All guardianship arrangements must be formally communicated to and approved by the school to ensure compliance and the student’s smooth integration into the school community.

As a foreigner, you may apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) if you are a parent or grandparent of a child studying in Singapore on a Student’s Pass. Only one applicant—either one parent or one grandparent—can apply at a time.

A local sponsor who is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR), aged 21 or above, is required to submit the application on your behalf using their Singpass via the ICA e-Service.

The application will typically be processed within 6 weeks, provided all required documents are complete and submitted correctly. However, some cases may take longer depending on individual circumstances.

Refer to Parent or Grandparent of a Child or Grandchild Studying in Singapore on a Student’s Pass for more information.

No, students applying to study in Singapore must enter on a Student’s Pass (IPA) and cannot hold a Tourist Visa concurrently. The Student’s Pass is the only valid visa type for full-time international students enrolled at SISH.
