Vatel Bachelor’s Degree (Class of 2022) Doan Thi Minh Tram (Mint) is currently taking on a role that requires her to wear many hats and communicates with many people from all walks of life within the team and without. Stationed at one of the top luxury hotel brands in Vietnam, Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81, her scope of work includes client relations, event and wedding planning, and more!

Read on as Mint shares her most memorable time with Vatel Singapore, why she chose to study with us, and the specific moment in the classroom where she knew she was on the right path towards her future career!

Why did you choose to enrol in SISH/Vatel?

The reason why I chose Vatel Singapore was very simple: I love hospitality and Singapore has one of the most developed hospitality industries in the world, giving me fantastic opportunities to learn and gain industry experience. I was recommended to study in Vatel Singapore, and when I did my research about the school, I figured it was the perfect fit for me!

Where are you currently working at and can you briefly describe your job scope?

I’m currently working at Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 in HCMC, Vietnam as a Sales Executive. This is one of the top luxury hotel brands in Vietnam. My daily tasks include, but are not limited to, handling sales with new clients, making sales calls, client relations, MICE event and wedding planning, and coordinating between departments.

What was the most memorable part of your education? What is a specific moment in the classroom or during the application process where you knew you were on a path to your future career?

The most memorable time in Vatel Singapore will be when I participated in the school events such as marketing or tourism fairs and going on hotel tours. These gave me an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, and to see the hotel operations in real life made me more firm on my aspirations and goals!

How do you feel you are better prepared for your future career?

After graduating, I feel that I am always ready to take on any challenges that will come my way. This year, I had a job offer in another industry that takes on a more customer-centric approach. I realised that the skills sets I gained from studying in Vatel Singapore are transferable qualities and I am happy to share that I have clinched the job!

What advice would you offer to current and future students?

Studying Hospitality does not mean that one has to work in the hotel and tourism industry, but the skill sets that you gain throughout your study journey are transferable qualities that help you succeed in whatever industry you are in.

Pay attention to the things that excite you and take advantage of every opportunity you have to learn, both in the classroom and outside. Believe in yourself and you will see how far you can go!
