SISH Alumni Spotlight: Amritpal Singh

Flight attendant and SISH alumni (Class of 2011) Amritpal Singh shares his SISH journey and how the skills he gained allowed him to be better prepared for his career path after graduation!

Why did you choose to enrol in SISH?

I chose to enrol in SISH because I was interested in the hospitality industry. And to be honest, I was not very sure of what school would be like. But till today, I have never regretted my decision to further my Diploma and Advanced Diploma studies in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.

Where are you currently working at and can you briefly describe your job scope?

Right after completing my studies with SISH, I did my National Service and joined a prestigious airline group as a flight attendant. As a cabin crew, I make my passengers feel right at home and I am proud to say that I love what I do. The skills I gained from SISH have allowed me to improve myself whilst on the job, which impressed my superiors! I would like to take this opportunity to thank my lecturers for instilling these skills in me.

What was the most memorable part of your education?

My most memorable part of my education would have to be interacting with different classmates from various countries and studying together. To be honest, I became more understanding of the different cultures, communication styles and values.

How do you feel you are better prepared for your future career?

I have always wanted to be a flight attendant since young and I knew I was on the right path to my career because of SISH. After completion of my studies, I realised I became more mature and was able to handle people in different situations. This is very important as my job requires me to interact with people from all around the world.

What advice would you offer to current and future students?

Lessons can be hard, challenging and may feel boring at times. But if you put your mind and focus, it is going to be worth it and really helpful for your future!
